Planning ahead

What are the benefits?

Planning ahead is simple to arrange and relieves your family of much of the emotional stress at the time of your passing.

It will ensure that your personal wishes regarding your own funeral are documented, respected and followed.

A pre-paid funeral contribution can help relieve you family of the financial stress of funeral expenses.

A pre-paid funeral trust allows you to set money aside in a specially created trust, so money is immediately available to go towards your funeral expenses. Your investment is held by either The Funeral Trust (Funeral Directors Association Of New Zealand) or the Public Trust, providing security for your funds, and freedom of choice should you choose to live elsewhere.

Investments up to $10,000 are exempt from the asset test for a care home subsidy.

Interest accumulated is tax-paid and does not affect any pension or superannuation you receive.

Pre-payment

Pre-payments are not held by Howard & Gannon Funerals, but by The Funeral Trust (Funeral Directors Association Of New Zealand) or the Public Trust.
